Welcome to Leisure Isle

Leisure Isle is a wonderful place to live and to visit. Situated in the beautiful Knysna estuary, in the heart of the Garden Route, this residential suburb is known for its leisurely lifestyle and its many recreational activities.

This is the website of the Leisure Isle Residents’ Association (LIRA), a voluntary organization representing Island residents. LIRA’s objectives are to nurture our natural heritage, maintain a secure environment, and work with the authorities to ensure appropriate levels of service.

LIRA assists the municipality with the maintenance of the Island’s infrastructure and public spaces, manages Steenbok Nature Reserve, and oversees arrangements for the busy festive season on the Island’s beaches. It organizes social events, and supports the Leisure Isle Festival.

Our Island community believes all Island residents, homeowners, businesses and clubs should join LIRA, and thereby contribute to both supporting and funding the work that LIRA does on behalf of all Islanders and visitors.
